Different Styles & Patterns
Stripes :
Fold the fabric back and forth as if you're making a fan, and secure with tie cords or rubber bands at intervals all along the body of the shirt. Repeat for the sleeves.
Overall Patterns:
-
Tie the entire shirt in tight, overhand knots. Don't forget the sleeves!
-
Gather the fabric at the neck and twist the tail until the shirt twists back
onto itself. Now tie the shirt firmly with cords.
-
Scrunch up the fabric and tie cords and rubber bands all over in a random
pattern.
Circular Patterns:
-
Pinch up a spot on the center in the front and/or back of the
shirt and wrap and tie the material below it all the way down to make a
bullseye or sunburst pattern.
-
Make circles over the entire shirt by pinching small areas of
cloth and binding them with cord or rubber bands.
-
Tying in round objects will result in an interesting pattern. The
design on the fuschia shirt, pictured above, was created by wrapping rubber
bands tightly around marbles and bunching them close together.
